Composition
It is a gel which contains 1% clindamycin phosphate.

Clindar T Gel Dose

Clindar T Gel Side Effects
Side effects include dryness and redness of the skin as well as a burning sensation. Allergic contact dermatitis may also develop.
In very rare circumstances it can be absorbed from the skin and cause pseudomembranous colitis with bloody diarrhea and abdominal pain. Therefore if diarrhea develops, its use should be discontinued.
Precautions
Do not apply it if you are allergic to clindamycin.

Interactions
Drug to Drug Interactions
It should not be used together with products that contain Erythromycin due to antagonism between Erythromycin and Clindamycin.
It should be used with caution in patients receiving neuromuscular blocking agents since Clindamycin can enhance the effect of those agents.
Do not apply it on the skin together with other medications.

Clindamycin has been used systemically in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy and it has not been associated with increased congenital abnormalities. However, topical clindamycin as is used for acne treatment is safe to use in pregnancy.
Systemic clindamycin might cause some gastrointestinal effects on breastfeeding infants like nausea and diarrhea. However topical clindamycin as is used for acne treatment is unlikely to end up in breastmilk in amounts that can affect the breastfeeding baby. The product insert however states that the breastfeeding mother should discontinue the use of this medication or discontinue breastfeeding.
